Loudoun-Montgomery Primary School serves the Fullarton area in the south-west of Irvine and is separated from the rest of the town by the River Irvine.
The children attending the nursery class and the primary school come from within a large local authority housing estate, a housing association development and small areas of private housing. A small number of our pupils are with us for only brief spells as they are temporarily housed in a nearby women’s refuge or homeless unit.
A number of our children are here by placing request and the parents of a substantial number of children have chosen to keep their children at this school despite moving out of our catchment area.
Loudoun-Montgomery P.S. is part of the Irvine Royal Academy Integrated Community School cluster.
The roll is 120 and organised into five classes. Our nursery class can offer up to 30 places for both the morning and afternoon sessions. Each session lasts for 2.5 hours. A high percentage of our pupil group take up their entitlement to free school meals.
The school is suitable for any person with a disability and is wheelchair friendly. A number of pupils have additional support needs involving Individual Education Plans, Individual Action Plans and Co-ordinated Support Plans.
The school is staffed to national standards with additional support through the Pupil Support Service. We also have support from Psychological Services, Speech and Language Therapy Service and other N.H.S. providers. We have visiting specialists in Music. A number of adult helpers support the pupils and the school. In addition, we regularly have students on placement working within the school.
We have a supportive and enthusiastic Parent Council and communicate fully with parents through meetings, workshops, reports and newsletters.
Our school provides a safe and attractive environment for all the children in our care. We have a centralised library, a dedicated computer suite, a playroom for infant pupils and orienteering course is being established within our school grounds.
We offer a high quality of education for our pupils and the school has undergone a highly successful inspection by HMIe and The Care Commission. We have also received the following awards: Health Promoting School, Active Schools Excellence, Silver Eco-Schools, Charter Mark Customer Service and Motorola Excellence in Enterprise.
